TWL Elektra

Rax-Platz seats a thousand, and it says something that the ground has outlasted three different club names above its gate. The current name dates only to 2021, when that club took in ASK Elektra Wien, whose own line runs back through a 2013 merger to SC Elektra, founded in 1921. Four names, none of them borrowed — each one absorbed into the next.

The honours sit mostly in the fourth tier, and that is not a small thing for a club built from transport and utility workers rather than a wealthy backer: the Wiener Liga in 1987/88, 2009/10 and 2017/18, each title good for a season in the Regionalliga Ost. The Vienna Cup followed in 2018/19. Further back, under the Gaswerk name, the club won the Workers' Sports League three years running, 1931 to 1933, a title that belonged to a different Austria and a different kind of football altogether.

Karim Onisiwo came through the youth academy here before he ever wore a senior shirt anywhere else, and Hans Krankl played as a boy for Straßenbahn Wien, though the connection is easy to overstate — he was gone long before the merger that made the club as it now stands. On the Regionalliga weekends, the away end fills for Favoritner AC, the local derby, or for SR Donaufeld when both sides are chasing the same points. Either way, it ends back at Rax-Platz, a small ground for a club that has never needed a big one.
