Retz

Retz sits in the Weinviertel, the wine-growing corner of Lower Austria, and the club that carries the town's name still trades on that identity: locally it is known as "Die Winzer" — The Winemakers. Football arrived there in 1921 with the founding of Sportverein Retz, and the club as it exists now took shape in 1956, when that side merged with ATSV Retz and Union Retz to form SC Retz.

What the merger produced has stayed a modest, steady presence in regional football rather than a name that travels. The club counts seven league titles since 1956. Their oldest edge in the area is with SV Langenrohr, a fixture the two have played roughly thirty times.

Beyond the first team, the club has also built a partnership with the Kenyan club Bandari FC, an unusual link for a town of this size to maintain.
