The route back through Serie C ran through the Coppa Italia Serie C, won in 2022/23. Three years earlier the club had gone up automatically as leaders of the third tier.
That entity was assembled in June 2018, when the OTB group of Renzo Rosso bought the assets of the bankrupt Vicenza Calcio and merged them with Bassano Virtus 55 ST. The headquarters moved from Bassano del Grappa to Vicenza. In 2021 the name was trimmed to L.R. Vicenza S.p.A. The club dates itself from 9 March 1902, when Associazione Calcio Vicenza was founded, and holds to the Lanerossi years of 1953 to 1989 as its own — the long stretch in Serie A. Paolo Rossi was Serie A's leading scorer in 1977/78 and a world champion four years later. Roberto Baggio came through here too.
The red and white vertical stripes stayed. So did the Stadio Romeo Menti, certified for 12,744, and the fixture against Padova — the Derby del Brenta.
What the old club won still counts as the high-water mark: the Coppa Italia of 1996/97, three Serie B titles across 1955, 1977 and 2000.
