Australia in Zimbabwe 2026/27

The phrase Australia in Zimbabwe does not label a permanent league or a domestic tournament. It describes bilateral cricket tours between the national teams of Zimbabwe and Australia. The fixtures are arranged under agreements made by Zimbabwe Cricket and Cricket Australia. These visits involve a series of international matches played under ICC regulations rather than a fixed pyramid structure with a founding year.

The 2026 tour is scheduled as a three-match One Day International series. Historically, the tours have covered Test matches, One Day Internationals, and Twenty20 Internationals. Recent activity has focused on limited-overs formats. The 2022 series played in Australia featured three matches, with Australia winning the set. The upcoming fixtures in Zimbabwe follow a similar limited-overs pattern.

These tours sometimes include a third nation in triangular series hosted in Zimbabwe. Past examples have seen South Africa and Pakistan join the two hosts. Such tournaments are ad-hoc arrangements rather than standing competitions. They differ from domestic leagues like the Logan Cup or the Sheffield Shield, which operate within their own countries. There is no permanent “Australia in Zimbabwe Cup” for cricket.

The bilateral relationship has a long history. Australia leads the Test record against Zimbabwe. The last meeting in that format took place in 2003 and 2004. In One Day Internationals, Australia holds a significant advantage over the home side. Twenty20 Internationals have been contested since 2005, with Australia also leading that head-to-head count. The 2026 series forms part of the pathway for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
