The Luxembourg Women tour of Belgium, 2024 was a bilateral international cricket series contested between two national sides. The fixture marked the first ever Twenty20 International meeting between the Belgian and Luxembourg women’s teams. Four matches were scheduled for May 19 and May 20, 2024, at the Royal Brussels Cricket Club Ground in Waterloo. Luxembourg Women secured the series 4–0, winning every contest.
Both squads are Associate Members of the International Cricket Council and operate within the ICC Europe regional pathway. They compete in Division qualifiers to progress toward World Cup qualification. There is no unified European women’s club league; instead, national teams play in regional tournaments to build rankings. Bilateral series such as this one serve primarily as preparation for those higher-stakes events.
Belgium Women made their WT20I debut in July 2021 against Austria. The Belgian Cricket Federation, founded in 1990, succeeded an earlier body that dissolved in 1942. The country’s men’s team played its first international match in 1905, and Belgium gained full WT20I status in 2018. Luxembourg Women played their maiden WT20I on September 5, 2023, against Serbia. The Luxembourg Cricket Federation was formed in 1994 by three clubs, including the Optimists Maidens CC.
The series took place in the context of ongoing development for both nations, which share similar pathways through the European cricket structure. The matches provided a platform for both teams to test their formats ahead of future regional competitions.
