About

The Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League is the top domestic club competition for List A cricket in Bangladesh. It was established in the 1973–74 season as the Dhaka First Division Cricket League before being elevated and renamed in 1986–87. The tournament gained official List A status in 2013–14, replacing the National Cricket League One-Day as the premier limited-overs event. The competition has undergone several name changes, including a period as the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League to mark Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's centenary. It is currently sponsored by Walton Smart Fridge.

Twelve clubs compete in the current format. The structure features a single round-robin stage where the top team is declared champion. A relegation league determines which teams drop to the Dhaka First Division Cricket League, while promotion involves the leading two sides from that lower tier. The league is administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Traditional sporting entities form the core of the competition, including Abahani Limited, Prime Bank Cricket Club, and Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity. Unlike the franchise-based Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), this tournament relies on club-based structures with local players and limited foreign quotas.

Abahani Limited holds the record for success with 23 titles, six of which came after the competition gained List A status. Mohammedan Sporting Club has won ten titles, including the 2025–26 season which ended a seventeen-year drought for the club. The league serves as the foundational domestic structure for List A cricket in the country, distinguishing itself from other limited-overs tournaments through its traditional club membership rather than city-based franchises.
