About

The Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League stands as the pinnacle of club cricket in Bangladesh, a status solidified when it was granted List A status in the 2013–14 season. Organised by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis, the competition sits directly above the Dhaka First Division Cricket League in the domestic structure. While the tournament began in the 1973–74 season under the name Dhaka First Division Cricket League, it adopted its current title in 1986–87.

The format follows a distinct pathway for both success and survival. The season commences with a round-robin league stage involving all participating sides. Following this, the top six teams advance to a Super League to contest for the championship, while the remaining clubs enter a Relegation League. Recent structural adjustments have streamlined the drop-out process, with the bottom two teams facing direct demotion to the First Division. Conversely, the top two sides from the lower tier earn promotion.

Abahani Limited holds the record for success within the competition, having secured 24 titles. Mohammedan Sporting Club claimed the most recent championship in the 2025–26 season, ending a seventeen-year wait for the trophy. The squad typically comprises twelve franchises, including Gazi Group Cricketers, Brothers Union, and Agrani Bank Cricket Club, competing in 50-over matches.

The league is distinct from the National Cricket League, which operates as a First-Class competition featuring divisional teams, and the Bangladesh Cricket League, another List A tournament often structured around zones or franchises rather than traditional city-based clubs.
