About

The Dhaka Premier Division Twenty20 Cricket League operates as the premier domestic Twenty20 club competition in Bangladesh. Organized by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis under the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the tournament serves as a key developmental stage for clubs within the capital city. Established for the 2018–19 season, the league presents a distinct format compared to the historic Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, which focuses on List-A and 50-over cricket. While both competitions feature top-tier teams, the Twenty20 edition follows its own unique structure and timeline.

The inaugural tournament in 2019 featured twelve teams divided into groups, leading to a semi-final stage where Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club secured the title. Following a cancellation in the 2019–20 season due to the pandemic, the competition returned in 2021 with a revised format. This edition introduced a single round-robin league stage, followed by a Super League for the top six teams and a Relegation League for the bottom three. Abahani Limited finished as champions by topping the Super League standings.

A significant feature of the 2021 edition was the implementation of promotion and relegation. The bottom two teams from the Relegation League were moved down to the Dhaka First Division Cricket League, adding competitive stakes to the latter half of the season. The tournament remains separate from the franchise-based Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), focusing instead on club-based participation. Individual performances during the 2021 season included Hasanuzzaman’s highest individual score of 105 and Mohammad Saifuddin’s achievement as the leading wicket-taker with 26 wickets.
