Green Afghanistan One Day Cup 2022/23

The Green Afghanistan One Day Cup is a domestic List A cricket tournament organized by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). It began in 2022, with the inaugural edition played in Khost Province. The competition features franchise-style teams rather than the traditional regional sides found in the primary List A tournament. The participating teams include the Maiwand Defenders, Hindukush Strikers, and Pamir Legends. In 2023, the Junior Champions, comprising U19 national players, was added as a fourth team. The format typically involves a round-robin league stage followed by a final. In the first season, three teams played a double round-robin, with Hindukush Strikers winning the title. The final between Maiwand Defenders and Pamir Legends in 2023 was abandoned due to rain, resulting in both teams being declared joint winners. The tournament was established to provide additional high-quality cricket for players and to promote environmental awareness, as indicated by its name. In 2023, it was sponsored by Super Cola Beverages Manufacturing Company, becoming the Super Cola Green Afghanistan One Day Cup. The Green Afghanistan One Day Cup is considered a supplementary or secondary List A event compared to the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament, which remains the primary domestic one-day competition featuring regional representatives. There is no formal promotion or relegation system between this cup and the regional tournament; they are parallel competitions. The tournament was not held in 2024.
