About

Green Afghanistan One Day Cup is a domestic List A cricket tournament organized by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB). Founded in 2022, it serves as the country’s premier 50-over domestic event, sitting alongside the first-class Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament and the T20 Shpageeza Cricket League. The competition features regional teams representing specific geographic areas of Afghanistan, distinguishing it from the franchise-based Shpageeza League which utilises player drafts and overseas players.

The tournament operates on a double round-robin group stage format where each team plays every other side twice, followed by a final between the top two finishers. Matches are played in the 50-over List A format. The current squad includes four clubs: Hindukush Strikers, Pamir Legends, Maiwand Defenders, and Junior Champions. Junior Champions entered the competition in the 2023 edition, expanding the field from the three teams that contested the inaugural season.

The 2022 final saw Hindukush Strikers defeat Pamir Legends by three wickets to claim the first title. The following year, under the official title Super Cola Green Afghanistan One Day Cup due to sponsorship, the final between Maiwand Defenders and Pamir Legends was washed out by rain, resulting in a joint victory for both sides. There is no formal promotion or relegation system linking this competition to other domestic tiers; teams are selected based on regional representation.

The tournament provides List A status crucial for player development and international selection. While the 2023 edition was the last completed season, a 2026 return is tentatively listed in some records. The structure remains focused on domestic preparation rather than competitive progression through league tiers.
