The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier stands as the premier regional tournament for women’s Twenty20 cricket on the continent. Organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) through its regional body, ICC Africa, the competition serves as the primary pathway for African nations to reach the global qualifiers. The event is not held annually but aligns with the ICC World Cup qualification cycles, typically occurring every two years.

The structure comprises a multi-tiered system featuring Division One and Division Two. Division One acts as the top tier, hosting established sides including Zimbabwe, Namibia, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, and Tanzania. A round-robin stage within groups leads to knockout semi-finals and a final, where the top two teams secure places at the global qualifier. Division Two functions as a feeder competition for emerging nations such as Botswana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon. Promotion and relegation operate between these tiers: the top two teams from Division Two advance to Division One, while the lowest-placed side from the premier division drops down.

Zimbabwe Women hold the record for success in the tournament, claiming victory in the 2021, 2023, and 2025 editions. In the 2023 final, they defeated Uganda, and in 2025, they beat Namibia by nine wickets. Namibia Women are frequent runners-up in the competition. The tournament is distinct from other African cricket competitions as it is the sole regional qualifier for the global T20 World Cup. It remains open to all ICC Associate members in the Africa region, fostering development through the Division Two pathway.
