The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 is a domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament in India, organized by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). The competition was founded in 2022, with the inaugural season held in August of that year. It serves as the official successor to the Karnataka Premier League (KPL), which was dissolved in 2019 following a match-fixing scandal. The event is named in memory of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, the former President of the KSCA and titular Maharaja of Mysore, who passed away in 2013; he was not the founder, but the tournament honours his legacy. The KSCA is the sole organizer, holding all commercial and cricketing rights, with Roger Binny serving as KSCA President during the launch.
The tournament sits within the state-level domestic structure, functioning as a developmental platform for Karnataka cricketers preparing for the national Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. It is distinct from the BCCI's national state-vs-state competitions. The format involves six franchise teams representing different regions of Karnataka. The season consists of a double round-robin league stage where each team plays every other team twice, followed by playoffs (Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and Final) for the top four teams, mirroring the IPL structure. There is no promotion or relegation between this franchise league and the state senior teams (like the Karnataka Ranji Trophy team).
Current teams (as of 2026) include Coastal Kings Mangaluru (rebranded from Mangaluru Dragons), Shivamogga Yodhas (rebranded from Shivamogga Lions), Mysuru Warriors, Hubli Tigers, Gulbarga Mystics, and Bengaluru Blasters. The title sponsor is The Shriram Group (Shriram Capital), with the tournament officially known as the Shriram Capital Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20.
Winners include Gulbarga Mystics (2022), Mysuru Warriors (2024), and Mangaluru Dragons (2025). The 2024 final between Hubli Tigers and Bengaluru Blasters was notable for requiring three Super Overs to decide the winner, a historic first in the tournament. In the predecessor KPL (2009–2019), Bijapur Bulls were the most successful team with two titles, and Hubli Tigers won the final 2019 edition. The Maharaja Trophy distinguishes itself from other Indian domestic cricket by using a franchise model with player auctions and regional city-based teams, rather than representing entire states.
