The National Cricket League stands as the premier domestic first-class cricket competition in Bangladesh, governed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Founded in 1999, the tournament serves as the primary multi-day event for regional divisions, operating distinctly from the franchise-based Bangladesh Cricket League. While the Bangladesh Cricket League focuses on elite talent through zonal franchises, the National Cricket League emphasises divisional representation across the country. For the 2024–25 season, the board reverted to a single eight-team round-robin format, having previously utilised a two-tier system with promotion and relegation. Matches span four days, classifying the event firmly within first-class cricket. The winner is determined by the points table at the end of the season, with no traditional knockout playoff stage involved.
Dhaka Division and Khulna Division share the record for the most titles, each securing seven championships. Dhaka Division claimed victories in the 2001–02, 2003–04, 2004–05, 2006–07, 2013–14, 2021–22, and 2023–24 seasons. Khulna Division won in 2002–03, 2007–08, 2012–13, 2015–16, 2016–17, 2017–18, and 2019–20. Rangpur Division currently holds the title following their success in the 2025–26 season, marking their third championship. Rajshahi Division has also established significant success with five titles, while Chittagong Division has won once. The 2020–21 season was cancelled due to the global pandemic, interrupting the regular competitive cycle. The league remains a crucial selection base for players aiming to progress, though there is no direct promotion or relegation between it and the Bangladesh Cricket League.
