The National Cricket League serves as the premier domestic first-class cricket competition in Bangladesh. Organised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, the tournament was inaugurated for the 1999–2000 season and was granted first-class status in the following campaign. It occupies the highest position in the national domestic structure, operating separately from the Bangladesh Cricket League and the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.
The competition features regional divisional teams rather than franchise sides. The participating clubs include Dhaka Division, Rangpur Division, Dhaka Metropolis, Chittagong Division, Khulna Division and Rajshahi Division. Historically, the league utilised a two-tier system from 2015–16 to 2023–24, which included promotion and relegation between the divisions. For the 2024–25 season, the structure reverted to a single eight-team round-robin format. There is no internal promotion or relegation in this current iteration. The winner is determined by the points table.
Dhaka Division and Khulna Division stand out as the most successful teams in the history of the competition. Each side has won the title seven times. Dhaka Division secured the most recent championship in the 2023–24 season. Sylhet Division claimed the 2024–25 title. The league has received sponsorship from entities such as Walton and Modhumoti Bank. The key distinction of the NCL is its use of administrative divisional teams in a multi-day format.
