About

The SLC Invitational T20 League functions as a high-profile domestic cricket tournament in Sri Lanka, organized by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). It sits outside the standard domestic pyramid, distinct from the commercial Lanka Premier League (LPL) and the provincial National Super League. The competition features four color-based squads: SLC Greys, SLC Greens, SLC Blues, and SLC Reds. These are not traditional clubs but representative teams composed of national and first-class cricketers selected by the SLC Selection Committee. The format typically involves a round-robin group stage followed by a knockout final, with no promotion or relegation as the teams are invitational.

Founded in 2021, the inaugural edition was held at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The tournament serves as a key preparation tool for players ahead of international tours. The 2021 title was claimed by SLC Greys after defeating SLC Reds. In 2022, SLC Reds won the final against SLC Blues. A gap in the schedule followed due to economic conditions, with the next edition taking place in 2025 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. During that final, SLC Greens defeated SLC Greys by 23 runs. No team has won the tournament more than once.

Sponsorship has varied across editions. The 2021 competition was known as the Dialog SLC Invitational T20 League, while Skyexch.net sponsored the 2022 edition. The 2025 event was referred to as the SLC T20 League without a specific title sponsor identified. The structure remains board-managed, utilizing color-based teams and direct player selection without auctions. This approach contrasts with the private ownership and city-based franchises of the LPL. The tournament is held irregularly, with editions in 2021, 2022, and 2025. It provides a platform for domestic talent to compete in a Twenty20 format under national selector oversight.
