Major Clubs T20 Tournament (Sierra Leone) 2026/27

The Major Clubs T20 Tournament operates as Sri Lanka's premier club-based Twenty20 cricket competition, organized by Sri Lanka Cricket. Established in 2022, the tournament distinguishes itself from the commercial Lanka Premier League by featuring traditional clubs with local memberships rather than city-based franchises. It serves as a distinct tier within the domestic pyramid, sitting alongside provincial tournaments that are often considered the primary pathway for national team selection.

The competition format involves a group stage followed by knockout semi-finals and a final. Participation numbers have fluctuated in recent years, with 22 teams entering the 2023 edition and 18 in 2024, divided into four groups. The current roster includes historical institutions such as Badureliya Sports Club, Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club, and Colts Cricket Club, alongside others like Ace Capital Cricket Club and Burgher Recreation Club.

Winners of the tournament include the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in 2022, joint champions Colts Cricket Club and Nondescripts Cricket Club in 2023, Nondesports Cricket Club in 2024, and Colombo Cricket Club in 2025. The competition has undergone structural changes since its inception, evolving from earlier iterations like the SLC Twenty20 Tournament and the Inter-Provincial Twenty20. While the provincial National Super League holds higher status for elite player development, the Major Clubs T20 remains the top-tier club event for traditional sporting bodies.
