About

The Hundred Men's Competition is a professional cricket tournament founded in 2021 by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). It operates as a standalone franchise-based league, sitting outside the traditional county cricket pyramid without promotion or relegation. The competition features eight city-based franchises, including Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, Trent Rockets, and Welsh Fire.

The format is unique to the sport, with each team facing exactly 100 balls per innings. Fielding sides change ends every 10 balls, and bowlers deliver sets of five or ten balls. The season consists of a round-robin league stage where each team plays eight matches. The top-ranked team qualifies directly for the final, while the second and third-placed teams contest an Eliminator; the winner of the Eliminator faces the top seed in the Final, traditionally held at Lord's.

The competition differs from the County Championship and T20 Blast primarily through its franchise model, which allows for private equity investment and a player draft system. The most successful team is Oval Invincibles with three titles. The current champion is Manchester Super Giants, who won the 2026 title by defeating Trent Rockets. Notable records include Will Smeed's 101* as the first century and Sunrisers Leeds' highest team total of 241/2 in 2026. Tymal Mills is the all-time leading wicket-taker. The official name is The Hundred, with KP Snacks as the principal partner.

Manchester Originals will rebrand as Manchester Super Giants in 2025/2026, while Northern Superchargers will become Sunrisers Leeds, and Oval Invincibles will be known as MI London. These changes reflect the evolving identity of the league within the English cricket landscape.
