West Indies in New Zealand 2025/26

West Indies in New Zealand is not a fixed tournament or domestic league. It is the standard name for bilateral international cricket tours where the West Indies national team visits New Zealand to play the New Zealand national team. These series are temporary fixtures arranged between Cricket West Indies and New Zealand Cricket rather than a permanent competition with a pyramid level or promotion system.

The tours are not continuous but consist of discrete series played at various intervals. The format varies by occasion, typically involving a set number of Test matches, One Day Internationals, and Twenty20 Internationals. West Indies have toured New Zealand for official Test matches since the 1930–31 season. Other tours occurred in 1951–52, 1955–56, 1968–69, 1979–80, 1986–87, 1994–95, 1999–2000, 2005–06, 2008–09, 2013–14, 2017–18, and 2020–21.

The most recent full-format tour took place in November and December 2025. New Zealand won the three-match Test series 2–0 after drawing the first match in Christchurch. They also secured a clean sweep in the three-match ODI series and won four of five Twenty20 Internationals, with the fourth match abandoned.

Historically, New Zealand leads in Test matches with 17 wins to West Indies' 13, alongside 19 draws in 49 matches. In T20 Internationals, New Zealand holds 11 wins to West Indies' 6 in 19 matches. These bilateral fixtures are distinct from New Zealand’s domestic leagues, such as the Plunket Shield, or the West Indies’ Regional Super50.

Both sides have also faced each other in major ICC events hosted in or involving New Zealand. In the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup Quarter-Final, New Zealand defeated West Indies by 10 wickets in Wellington. At the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 Semi-Final, West Indies won by 8 wickets in Auckland. These results highlight the competitive nature of the encounters between the two nations.
