About

West Indies in Zimbabwe denotes a bilateral cricket series between the West Indies and Zimbabwe national teams rather than a fixed annual tournament. Organised under the auspices of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the fixture is arranged by Cricket West Indies and Zimbabwe Cricket. The primary trophy for these encounters is the Clive Lloyd Trophy, established in 2001 and named after the former West Indies captain. This award is contested in Test series and has been played five times, specifically in 2001, 2003/04, 2012/13, 2017/18, and 2022/23. West Indies has won every edition of the Clive Lloyd Trophy.

Zimbabwe Cricket, founded in 1981 as the Zimbabwe Cricket Union, gained ICC Full Member status in 1992. Cricket West Indies was formed in 1926/27. The tours have occasionally attracted attention for political tensions; a 2007 West Indies A tour was cancelled due to safety concerns regarding the Mugabe regime, although a full ODI tour proceeded later that year. Head-to-head records favor the West Indies significantly across all formats.

The series includes matches featuring Zimbabwe, West Indies, and Zimbabwe XI. The competition does not involve promotion or relegation, as it is a bilateral arrangement rather than a league structure.
