Agustín Bouzat

Houston Dynamo signed Agustín Bouzat, the midfielder arriving from Vélez Sarsfield in January 2026 on a deal running through 2028 with an option for a further year. Vélez is where he made his name: after joining in December 2017, he grew into a key player and eventually the captain, and it was under his armband that the club won the Argentine Primera División in 2024, followed by the Supercopa Argentina the same year and the Supercopa Internacional in 2025, a 2–0 win over Estudiantes.

His path there was not straightforward. Bouzat started out at Liniers before Boca Juniors signed him in 2012, but he spent most of his six years at the club on the fringes, in the reserves or out on loan. The loan spell that mattered came at Defensa y Justicia between 2016 and 2017, where regular football — 39 appearances and 3 goals — gave him the platform to force a permanent move away from Boca and into the Vélez squad.

A second loan, this time to Colo-Colo in Chile between mid-2022 and the end of 2023, added more silverware: the Chilean Primera División and the Copa Chile. He returned to Vélez to captain the side through its most successful run before Houston paid a reported €0.6 million for him this year.

A left-footed midfielder, Bouzat has built a career on output as much as leadership, with 25 goals and 24 assists in 367 appearances at club level heading into his move to MLS.
