Diego Fagúndez

Diego Fagúndez was fifteen when he signed his first professional contract with New England Revolution, on 15 November 2010, making him the club's first-ever homegrown player. He went on to become the youngest player in MLS history to reach 100 appearances, a mark he hit in 2015, and later the youngest to score 50 league goals, in October 2018. A loan spell at Rochester Rhinos in 2013 produced the only goal of his stint there, the winner against Wilmington Hammerheads on 10 May that year.

Fagúndez spent a decade at New England before leaving as a free agent for Austin FC in 2021. He marked the occasion by scoring the first goal in the club's history, in a 3-1 win over Colorado Rapids on 24 April 2021. He left Austin in August 2023, traded to LA Galaxy for midfielder Memo Rodríguez and up to $900,000 in General Allocation Money, and won the MLS Cup with the Galaxy in 2024. In March 2026 he returned to New England Revolution on a one-year deal with a club option for 2027.

By April 2025 he had put together 74 goals and 76 assists in MLS regular-season play, making him the 16th player in league history — and only the second active one at the time — to reach 150 goal contributions. He also belongs to the 70-70 club, the tenth MLS player to pass 70 goals and 70 assists. Along the way he was named MLS Player of the Week in Week 14 of the 2013 season, took New England's Team MVP award that same year, and won the Midnight Riders' Man of the Year in 2017. At international level, he represented Uruguay at Under-20 level between 2012 and 2015.
