About the player
He left in 2016 for Corinthians in a transfer reported at around €3.44 million, winning the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and the Campeonato Paulista in 2017. He had already picked up two Campeonato Mineiro titles with Atlético, in 2010 and 2015, and added a Campeonato Catarinense with Figueirense in 2014.
After further loans from Corinthians to Vasco da Gama and Goiás, he left as a free agent in 2020 for Coritiba, then moved on to Mazatlán, Guarani, Vitória and Portuguesa. At Vitória in 2023 he was part of the squad that won the Série B and secured promotion.
He joined Chapecoense in April 2024, and his first season there brought 27 appearances in the Série B, without a goal but with three assists. In the 2025 Série B he finished as the competition's top assist provider, setting up ten goals for his teammates.
Giovanni Augusto has never been called up to the Brazil national team at any level.
