Josué Filipe Soares Pesqueira

Josué Pesqueira came through the ranks at FC Porto, working through loan spells at Padroense and Candal before breaking into the senior side in 2009. Porto sent him out again to season at S.C. Covilhã, F.C. Penafiel and Dutch club VVV-Venlo, and by the time he returned from a two-year stint at F.C. Paços de Ferreira the 2012–13 season brought him the Primeira Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year award and an SJPF Young Player of the Month nod.

Back at Porto for a second spell, he won the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira and the Taça de Portugal, interspersed with loans to Bursaspor, S.C. Braga and Galatasaray. He made permanent moves to Osmanlıspor and then Akhisarspor, where he lifted the Turkish Super Cup. A spell at Hapoel Be'er Sheva added an Israel State Cup winner's medal before he settled in Poland with Legia Warsaw, winning a Polish Cup and Polish Super Cup double, plus recognition as Ekstraklasa Midfielder of the Season and Piłka Nożna Foreigner of the Year in 2023.

At international level he was capped four times by Portugal's senior side, debuting against Israel in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying, having already progressed through the U19, U20 and U21 age groups. His move to Coritiba added another honour to a wandering career: promotion via the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B in 2025.
