James Tanner Beason

Tanner Beason arrived at New England Revolution as a free agent after San Jose Earthquakes chose not to pick up his contract option, signing a two-year deal with the club in December 2024 with an option to extend into 2027. In his first season on the East Coast he was a fixture at the back, making 27 appearances and adding an assist, and has yet to be capped by the United States senior national team.

Before turning professional, Beason built his reputation at Stanford, where he won three consecutive NCAA national championships and four straight Pac-12 titles. His 2018 season there stands out: he was named both Pac-12 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, the first player in the conference's history to hold both awards in the same season, on top of First Team All-American recognition.

San Jose took him 12th overall in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, and he went on to make his professional career there across five seasons before moving on.
