Berekum sits in Ghana's Bono Region.

The relationship with the town itself was not always settled. Promotion to the Ghana Premier League in 2008 took the club to nearby Bechem, where it played for a period as Bechem Chelsea. Supporters pushed back, and on 17 February 2010 the side returned home and reclaimed its old name.

The Blues' one league title came the following season, in 2010–11, and it was not won comfortably in the counting sense so much as settled early — the team wrapped up the championship with three matches still to play. Emmanuel Clottey supplied the moment supporters still point to, converting a late penalty to seal it, while Nana Poku finished the campaign as the division's top scorer.

Cup football has been less kind. Semi-final appearances in the FA Cup, in 2020–21 and again in 2024–25, have not yet turned into the one trophy still missing from the club's history.

The town's ground, Golden City Park, holds 5,000, modest even by the standards of the Ghana Premier League, but it has been enough to host a side that reached the group stage of the CAF Champions League in 2012, with Jordan Opoku, who had joined the club the previous year, central to that run.

None of it, though, carries the weight of what happened on 12 April 2026, when Dominic Frimpong, a 20-year-old winger on loan from Aduana, was shot and killed in an ambush on the team bus on the Bibiani–Goaso highway, returning from an away match against Samartex.

On the pitch, the fixture that still decides bragging rights in the Bono Region is against Nsoatreman, the Bono Derby — the one match each season where league position counts for less than the result on the day.
