BM Morvedre Women

For a club whose senior side had spent the previous two seasons in the second tier, the path to the top level was defined by consistent performance rather than a single moment.

The senior team's own route back had already been mapped out through the standings rather than a single afternoon. Promoted to the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola in 2017–18 after going through the entire División de Honor Plata campaign without defeat, they came straight back down, then answered with two consecutive runner-up finishes in the renamed División de Honor Oro, in 2022–23 and 2023–24, to force their way back up again.

Sagunto's women's handball did not start with the club as it is now known. Balonmano Morvedre was set up in June 2012 as heir to a run of local sides — Balonmano Sagunto, Astroc Sagunto, Parc Sagunt, Mar Sagunt among them — that had already kept the city in the top divisions for three decades, and the name it took, Morvedre, is Sagunto's own medieval name.

Behind her, the academy has kept feeding the first team rather than just the trophy cabinet: Bea San Isidro, known to everyone as Uki, has stayed on as captain through the club's ups and downs between divisions.

Every Morvedre season now carries the Derbi de la Comunitat against Elda Prestigio, the fixture between the Valencian region's two strongest sides, where form elsewhere in the table counts for little.
