Edinburgh Castle Rockers

Sportpark Westvliet in The Hague has never hosted a Scottish cricket derby before, yet that is where the Castle Rockers met the Glasgow Cosmic in the 2026 European T20 Premier League, a fixture the league billed as the first meeting between the two cities in 132 years. One of two league-stage victories that also saw off the Dublin Guardians, the result left the club top of the table with five points and a net run rate of 3.380.

None of it happens near Edinburgh. The franchise carries the city's name and its red colours, but the league centralises its matches in the Netherlands, so home games for The Rockers, as the club is known, are played at Sportpark Duivesteijn in Voorburg and at Westvliet in The Hague rather than anywhere in Scotland.

The club was one of six announced when the competition launched on 21 January 2026, put together with New Zealand cricketers Nathan McCullum and Kyle Mills among the owners. Mitchell Santner, another New Zealander, captains a squad that mixes established internationals such as Trent Boult and Shadab Khan with Scottish players like Mark Watt and Safyaan Sharif, several of them arriving through the league's draft. A final against the Belfast Wolves was set for 20 September at Malahide in Dublin, the club's first shot at a title in its debut season.

Whatever the outcome there, Glasgow Cosmic is already the fixture that matters most to Edinburgh supporters.
