Ferlach

Risto Arnaudovski left Ferlach for two seasons as a player before coming back to the bench. SC Ferlach's handball section grew out of a wider sports club founded in 1963 with a badminton section; handball followed a year later, in August 1964, and the team played outdoors before the game moved indoors in 1975.

Promotion to the Handball Liga Austria has come and gone four times since 1985 — 1987, 2003, and a relegation play-off defeat after the 2014 promotion. The exception came in 2016, when Ferlach beat HSG Graz in the promotion final to go back up. The deepest cup run followed soon after, a run to the ÖHB-Cup semi-finals in 2013/14; the Austrian Championship and the Austrian Cup itself have stayed out of reach.

Fabian Posch, an Austrian international, joined the club in 2013 alongside Marian Klopcic, who came through Ferlach's own youth ranks to earn international recognition. Matches are played in the Ballspielhalle, built in 1979, in blue.
