RK Krka

In the 1. NLB Liga, Krka have made a habit of finishing where the table starts to matter without quite reaching the top of it — fourth place remains the club's best league finish, reaching the round of 16 of the EHF European Cup in the 2024/25 season.

The name on the shirt explains the colours: green and white belong to Krka, the pharmaceutical company whose sponsorship gave the club its nickname, Farmacevti. Under that name, the club's high point came in 2018, when it beat Celje Pivovarna Laško 23:22 to win the Slovenian Super Cup, a result still described in Novo Mesto as the biggest in the club's history. More recently it is Gorenje Velenje that Krka meet with the sharper edge, particularly when the playoffs are on the line.

Leon Rašo was part of the squad that beat Celje in 2018; Anže Ratajec has since moved on to the SEHA League. Matches are played at Športna dvorana Marof, which holds 1,200.

The club now competing under the Krka name was founded in 2000, though it is not the town's first handball side of that name — a previous club called Krka existed in Novo Mesto from 1954 until 1993.
