Gyor Women

Győr sits on the Rába and Danube, an industrial city where Audi has run an engine plant since the 1990s. The women's section traces back to 1948, grown out of the wider ETO sports club that had existed since 1904.

Nineteen national titles and seven European ones sit either side of that history, but it is the run under Ambros Martín that set the club apart: Champions League wins in 2013 and 2014, then 2017, 2018 and 2019, a spell in which Győr beat Viborg, CSM București, HC Vardar after extra time and Rostov-Don by a single goal. Martín left, came back in 2021, and added 2024 and 2025 to the tally. Between the wins came defeats in the final too, against Viborg, Budućnost, Rostov-Don again and Vipers Kristiansand, the kind of near-misses that mark out a club as a permanent contender rather than one that got lucky once.

No name is tied to the club more than Anita Görbicz, who scored 3,797 goals in green and white before her number was retired and she moved into the presidency. Matches against Ferencváros carry their own weight in Hungary, known simply as the csúcsrangadó, the top-of-the-table game.

The team moved into the Audi Aréna in 2014, leaving the old ETO Park behind.
