Michalovce Dukla

The Foxes have built their reputation in the tier below the top flight, taking the Slovak 1. Liga in 2018 and again in 2019, with an earlier title from the old 1st Slovak National Hockey League in 1986. The Extraliga itself has stayed out of reach; the closest the club has come was a pair of semi-final runs, in 2020–21 and 2023–24.

Michalovce sits close enough to Košice that the fixture between them carries its own name, the Východniarske derby.

Two numbers hang retired above the ice at the Zimný štadión: 24, for Richard Sechny, and 19, for Peter Pindár. The captain's armband now belongs to Kaspars Daugaviņš.
