Montegnee

The sheet says "forfait général" — a general forfeit. The club came back from it, merged three years later with HC 200 Ans under the name Renais'Ans Montegnée, and by 2020 had reverted to its old name and shape as if the detour had never happened.

In the 1980s Montegnée joined forces with Progrès HC Seraing, borrowing Seraing's registration number to chase a place among Belgium's elite, and reached Division 1 in 1990. A finish near the bottom of the table sent the merged side back down in 1993. It took until 2026 for Montegnée to return to that level, 33 years on.

Between those upheavals sit two runs to the Belgian Cup final, in 1971 and again in 2012–13, both lost while the club was playing in the second division — the second of them a 28–24 defeat to Achilles Bocholt at a Final Four in Tournai. Christophe Bourlet came through the youth ranks here from the age of six before leaving to build a career at United HC Tongeren, where he collected five championships and five cups and went on to earn 66 caps for Belgium. The academy he passed through has kept producing: the under-14s were Belgian champions in 2018, the under-16s in 2022.

On the pitch, the fixture that still carries weight is the one against HC Visé BM, played as the Liège derby, alongside meetings with HC Sprimont and ROC Flémalle.
