The town is small enough that a single team can define it.

The closest the club came to the Swedish Championship was 1950, when it reached the final and lost 2–7 to Djurgårdens IF — though the silver medal still stands as the high-water mark. Elitserien has come and gone twice more: relegation in 1975, a return in 2004, another drop in 2008, then promotion again in 2016–17 after Mora won both the HockeyAllsvenskan regular season and the playoffs, only for the SHL spell to end again in 2019.

Three SCA Cupen titles, in 1995, 1997 and 2004, sit alongside that history, and the retired numbers hanging in the rink — Mats Lönn's 14 among them — mark out the players Mora chose never to hand on. During the NHL lockouts the club had a stranger kind of visibility: Marian Hossa and Anže Kopitar both turned out for Mora while the North American season was frozen.

Games against Leksands IF, the other club on Siljan's shore, are still called the Siljan Derby, and they are played at FM Mattsson Arena in front of a crowd that, at full capacity, numbers 4,500.
