Leksand

The Siljan Derby against Mora IK takes the name of the lake between the two towns, and little else about Leksands IF needs explaining once that fixture is understood. The nickname Masarna, a reference to the district's old iron trade, points at the same local identity.

Founded on 13 August 1919 as a bandy and skiing club, Leksands IF only turned to ice hockey after an 11–0 win over Mora in its first match in 1938, and hockey has been the club's sole sport since. The championships that mattered most came in a single stretch: four Swedish titles, in 1969, 1973, 1974 and 1975. Leksand then stayed in the top flight without interruption from 1951 to 2001.

The 21st century has been less settled. Relegation from the Elitserien in 2009 was answered with an immediate HockeyAllsvenskan title and promotion back; the same pattern repeated after relegation in 2018, with the second-tier championship won again in 2019.

That pattern of relegation and immediate return did not repeat this time. Leksand went down from the SHL at the end of the 2024–25 season, losing the play-out series to HV71 4–0, the deciding game settled in overtime in late March. The club now starts the 2025–26 campaign back in HockeyAllsvenskan.
