Poruba HC

Officially the team dates to November 1946, registered as SK Poruba, though a side had already been skating unregistered since 1932. The club settled into its current identity as HC RT Torax Poruba in 2010, sponsorship attached but the Poruba name intact throughout.

The senior team's history has not been unbroken: it folded in 2009 and only returned in 2011, after the club bought a playing licence from Roudnice nad Labem to get back onto the ice. Since then Poruba has built its record in the lower tiers of Czech hockey, topping the regular season of the 1. Liga in 2023/24.

Matches at home go on at the RT Torax Arena, reduced to 4,200 capacity after reconstruction finished in 2024, down from the 5,000 the ground held following its 1998 renovation. Across the city, Poruba's games against Vítkovice carry the label of the Ostrava derby, a local rivalry that sits in the shadow of the fiercer Moravian-Silesian derby between Vítkovice and Třinec.
