HK Rygge sit in the second-tier 1. Division Women, a level the club knows from the inside — promoted in 2005 and again in 2010, dropped back to the 2. Division in 2013 and further to the 3. Division the year after.
The club exists because three separate handball sections decided they were stronger together: Larkollen, Rygge and Øreåsen combined their teams on 22 January 1998.
Ryggehallen, the hall on Skoleveien where they play, was built in 1967.
Signe Marit Aanerød is the name people in Rygge still bring up first: a goalkeeper whose form in 2010 coincided with the club's push back up into the 1.
