San Alfonzo

Three straight seasons in charge of the local Minga Guazú league were enough to earn Basket San Alfonso a place it had never occupied before: in 2025 the club left municipal basketball behind and stepped into the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol, Paraguay's top division. Getting there meant winning the city title in three consecutive years running, a run that made the team "tricampeón" at home before anyone outside Alto Paraná had reason to notice them.

The step up showed almost immediately in the fixture list. San Alfonso, known to their own supporters as Los Alfonsinos, found themselves facing Olimpia Kings and Sportivo Luqueño, clubs with long histories in the national game, while still carrying the habits of a side built for a regional league. There was no LNB title to show for the first year of that adjustment, and the 2026 Clausura tournament ended with the team settled in the middle of the table — neither relegation trouble nor a serious run at the top, which for a debutant counted as a season held together rather than lost.

Rodolfo Ramírez is the name that recurs from the years the club spent winning the local competition, the period that did the work of qualifying them for the national stage. Paraguay's basketball press has occasionally referred to "los franjeados" in writing about matches involving the club, though the label sits more comfortably with the stripes on an opponent's jersey than with any settled identity of their own.

Games are played at the Polideportivo Municipal Minga Guazú, the city's own gymnasium and the one ground that has followed the club through every stage of its rise, from the municipal league to a national fixture list that now includes trips to grounds far larger than anything Alto Paraná has offered before.
