SKA-Akademiya

The team has not stayed in one place. It started life in 2014 in the Leningrad Oblast settlement of Imeni Morozova as SKA-Varyagi, part of HC SKA's junior system from the outset. In the summer of 2023 it moved out of the city altogether, rebranded as SKA-Akademiya-Yunior and relocated to Krasnogorsk in the Moscow Oblast, playing out of the Vladimir Petrov Ice Arena. That exile lasted two seasons: in the summer of 2025 the club returned to Saint Petersburg under its current name, taking up residence at the Hockey City complex.

The Junior Hockey League championship, the Harlamov Cup, has eluded it throughout.

What the club has produced instead is players. Ivan Demidov came through this pipeline before his move into the KHL, one name among a run of graduates that also includes Igor Larionov Jr. and the Brinkman brothers, Valeri and Arseny. It is a club known less for what it has won than for who has passed through it on the way to somewhere bigger.
