The OSiR Zawiszów sports hall, on ulica Galla Anonima, is built to school-hall dimensions rather than arena scale, and it is there, not in front of large crowds, that SKPR Świdnica has played its matches. The club began life in 1974 as Elmot Świdnica, before a rebrand to Bel-Pol in 1998 and, in 2005, the switch to the SKPR name it carries now.

Under either name, the club's clearest successes have come from its youth ranks rather than its senior side. The senior team, meanwhile, has built its story around earning a place rather than holding one, with promotions to the I Liga in 2011 and 2017.

Świdnica's academy has also produced players who moved on to bigger stages — Agnieszka Tobiasz won a World Championship bronze medal with Germany after coming through the club, while Stanisław Makowiejew , a current Polish international, is a graduate still tied to the club's name.

The "Grey Wolves" nickname has stuck through every name change the club has gone through.
