SIF sit in the 1. Division, the second tier of Danish handball, a level the club first reached in 2012 when the men's side won promotion.
Stoholm IF grew out of the town's sporting life in 1921, long before the handball section carried the club's name into a national second division. Cup football against a first-tier side is the closest it has come to a wider stage: in 2018 SIF reached the sixth round of the Santander Cup against Mors-Thy Håndbold. Frederik Nørbjerg Thomsen made that move in 2019.
The club plays and trains at the Stoholm Fritids- og Kulturcenter on Søndergade, in white at home and blue away. Locally, the fixture that matters is against Sparkær IF, contested for years through the Fjends Cup, with Mønsted IF the other name on that short list of neighbours.
