Stupava Women

The court at the Školská športová hala seats two hundred, with room for fifty more standing, inside the school grounds named for Captain J. Nálepku, and it is where Stupavčanky have built their run through the lower Slovak divisions.

The handball section in Stupava goes back to 1947, formed under Sokol Stupava; the club took the name HC Tatran Stupava in 1957, after a spell playing as ŠK Stupava. Green, white and black have stayed the colours since.

The 2023/24 season stands apart: Stupava won the Slovak 1. Liga without dropping the title race, finishing ten points clear of Šaľa in second, and the promotion that followed took them into the MOL Liga for 2024/25. A further playoff win over the Czech sides Hodonín and Bohumín has since secured a MOL Liga place again for 2026/27. In domestic cup competition the club's best run came in 2019, reaching the Final 4 before losing in the semi-final to HK Slovan Duslo Šaľa.

Derby weekends belong to Strojár Malacky, the neighbouring town's club, and the fixture is known locally as the Záhorácke derby. Stupava's own academy has done more for the club's name than any transfer: Richard Stoviček moved through it on his way to THW Kiel, and Hana Becirhodzić, who joined from Sweden in 2023, is among the current senior squad. Stupava reached the quarter-finals of the Slovak Cup in 2025/26.
