UHK Krems

UHK Krems head into the new season as ÖHB Cup holders, having won the trophy again in 2025/26. That success followed a longer wait at the top of the Austrian Handball Bundesliga: after three championships in the 1970s, Krems went 42 years without another title before winning it again in 2019, then twice more, in 2022 and 2025. Jakob Jochmann captained the side for much of that span before leaving in 2022.

The club traces back to 1947, when it operated as the handball section of the multi-sport club Union Krems; it split off as an independent club on 25 November 1975. Relegation ended its run in the top flight after the 1994/95 season, and it took until 2003/04 to return to the Bundesliga. It now competes as Förthof UHK Krems, the sponsorship name in use since the 2021/22 season.

Krems plays in yellow and red at Sport.Halle.Krems, which holds 1,428 spectators. Matches against the Viennese clubs, chiefly HC Fivers WAT Margareten, are known locally as the Ost-Derby; Vorarlberg's Alpla HC Hard and Bregenz Handball are the other fixtures supporters mark on the calendar.

Vlatko Mitkov, a Macedonian international who joined in 2012, scored more than 700 goals for the club before leaving in 2018.
