Reykjavík's Valur grew as one club across sports, and when a women's section formed in the post-war years, handball became part of that spread rather than a late addition.
The cup record fills in some of the quieter years, with three straight wins between 2012 and 2014.
Individual seasons have carried some of the biggest names in Icelandic handball. Dagný Skúladóttir, capped 119 times for Iceland, was named Player of the Year in 2013, in the middle of that cup-winning streak. Anna Úrsúla Guðmundsdóttir's career at the club ran to eight championships and five cups, a stretch long enough to span different eras of the same dominance.
