Alagoano (Brazil) 2026/27

The Campeonato Alagoano operates as the premier state football competition within the Brazilian region of Alagoas. Established in 1927, the tournament serves as the primary gateway for local clubs to reach wider national stages, specifically the Copa do Brasil and Série D. Governed by the Federação Alagoana de Futebol, the league sits at the base of the national football pyramid.

The current season features eight teams competing in a single round-robin group stage. The structure advances the top four sides into two-legged semi-finals and a two-legged final. This format ensures that every match carries significant weight toward qualification. The competition links directly to the Segunda Divisão Alagoana, where the second-division champion earns promotion and the lowest-placed team faces relegation.

Historical dominance is concentrated among a small number of clubs. CRB holds the record with 45 titles, a figure that places them well ahead of rivals. Their recent achievement includes ten consecutive championships, a feat that underscores their enduring strength. CSA follows closely with 40 wins, cementing a fierce rivalry between the two sides known as the "Clássico dos Milhões."

Recent developments have shaped the modern iteration of the tournament. An NBA-inspired structural adjustment was introduced to streamline proceedings. Commercially, the league secured naming rights from SportyBet in 2026, reflecting growing investment in the region's sport. These changes aim to elevate the profile of Alagoas football while maintaining its traditional competitive integrity.

The league remains distinct within Brazil for the high concentration of success among its leading clubs. It provides essential national qualification spots for teams from smaller federations. The intense local rivalries and structured progression make it a vital component of Brazilian football.
