About

The CONCACAF W Champions Cup is the premier continental competition for women’s club football in the North American, Central American, and Caribbean region. Organized by CONCACAF, it sits at the top of the continental pyramid for women. The tournament serves as the women’s counterpart to the men’s CONCACAF Champions Cup and acts as the primary qualification route for the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.

Unlike a domestic league, this is a tournament where clubs qualify based on performance in their respective national leagues or cups. There is no promotion or relegation system within the competition itself; participation is determined by domestic sporting merit. For the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons, the format involved a preliminary round, a group stage with two groups of five teams, and a centralized knockout stage played as single-leg matches. Starting in 2027, the format will change to a knockout-only structure with 11 teams, featuring two-legged quarter-finals and semi-finals.

Qualification spots are allocated among member associations. Historically, the United States and Mexico have held the most spots. The 2027 format allocates three spots each to the USA and Mexico, one to Canada, and four to Central America and Caribbean associations via preliminary rounds. The inaugural 2024–25 tournament was won by NJ/NY Gotham FC. The 2025–26 edition was won by Club América. As of the 2025–26 season, Gotham FC and Club América are tied as the only winners, each having won the title once.

The competition is distinct from the CONCACAF W League, which is a developmental league for emerging clubs, and from national team competitions like the CONCACAF W Championship, which qualifies nations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
