Sergipano (Brazil) 2026/27

The Campeonato Sergipano sits at Level 1 of the Brazilian football pyramid. It is the top-flight professional league for the state of Sergipe. The competition was established in 1918 as an amateur contest and adopted professional status in 1960.

The format relies on a single round-robin regular season. The team finishing first advances directly to the semi-finals. Teams ranked second through seventh play single-leg quarter-finals. The lower-placed sides in the regular season face relegation play-offs or direct drop to Série A2. The semi-finals and final are contested over two legs. Promotion from Série A2 usually goes to the Série A2 champion.

Confiança has taken the title in 2024 and 2025. Sergipe remains the most successful club with 38 titles. Confiança follows with 24 honours, while Itabaiana has claimed 11.

The league is distinct from the national Brasileirão as it serves as a state-level competition. It acts as a qualifier for national cups such as the Copa do Brasil and the Copa do Nordeste, as well as for Série D. The competition is organized by the Sergipe Football Federation (FSF). Current participants include América SE, AO Itabaiana, Atlético Gloriense, Confiança, Desportiva Aracaju and Dorense.

Historical reforms included structural changes in 1939 and 1959. The league has had sponsors such as Chevrolet, GBarbosa and Caixa Econômica Federal.
