Vejen ended a winless streak with a 106-95 victory over BMS Herlev in Basketligan on Friday evening. The result gives the visitors their first point of the campaign after nineteen defeats. We had tipped the hosts at 54 per cent confidence, but the game went another way entirely.

Herlev started brightly enough, building a small cushion in the opening quarter. Vejen refused to go away, chipping away until the interval saw the visitors level the score. The second half belonged to the visitors, who turned it on with a run that stretched the lead to double figures.

What made the difference was shooting efficiency. Vejen hit 39 of 63 field goals — a 62 per cent strike rate — while Herlev managed 32 from 68 attempts. The visitors also controlled the glass, pulling down 35 rebounds to Herlev's 25. By then the game was effectively over.

Herlev relied heavily on the three-point line, draining 12 of 39 attempts. Vejen was more selective, converting just five from 16 range. Both sides traded steals at eight apiece, but Herlev's 24 personal fouls told a different story. They gave away too many free opportunities, though Vejen only took 23 of their 32 available shots from the stripe.

The result keeps Herlev in the lower half of the table while lifting Vejen off the bottom rung. The visitors now have a point to build on after twenty-two games without a win. Herlev will need to address their defensive rebounding if they want to stay competitive.
