Čačak Hold Their Nerve to Extend Lead at Top
Borac Čačak took all three points away from Dinamo Jug in the First League on Sunday evening, winning 2:0 at the home side's ground. The visitors sat deep and soaked it up before finding their rhythm in the second half. One goal before the break, another after the interval, and they had the result under control by then. The hosts had more possession but couldn't translate it into clear chances.
The visitors struck first just before the hour mark, S. Djuric heading home in the 45th minute. Dinamo Jug pushed for an equaliser but couldn't break through. M. Jevtovic added a second in the 78th, and the visitors switched off at the back only once, when M. Kolarevic picked up a second yellow card on 90+3 minutes. The red card came late, but the damage was already done.
There were plenty of bookings. Dinamo Jug saw three yellows — Desancic, Adamu and Kolarevic — while Borac Čačak's Jevtovic and Kolarevic were also cautioned. By then the game had settled into its pattern: the hosts kept possession, the visitors looked dangerous on the counter. The visitors' substitution of M. Mijic in the 65th minute brought fresh legs, and they held their nerve.
Boasting 53 per cent possession, Dinamo Jug managed 80 attacks and six shots, three on target. Borac Čačak worked 78 attacks with nine shots, four on target. It was an uneven evening — the hosts had the ball, the visitors had the chances. One could argue the visitors were more clinical, but that's not the point. The result tells the story.
Borac Čačak remain top of the table with 15 points from six games, five wins and one defeat. The gap at the summit is growing, and they've now extended their winning streak to four matches. Dinamo Jug's form has been inconsistent — two wins, two draws, one loss in their last five — and this result adds to their growing concerns.
The visitors have the deeper squad, and that showed in the second half. They didn't need to chase the game, just maintain their shape and wait for their moment. Cup football has its own rules, but this was a league match, and the points matter. Borac Čačak took them.
