Levadia saw off Trans Narva 4:0 in the Meistriliiga regular season on Friday evening. The result keeps the table leaders firmly in control of the title race, while Trans Narva remain rooted to tenth place. It was a straightforward evening for the hosts, who took the lead early and never looked back.
M. Ainsalu struck first in the seventeenth minute, catching the visitors flat-footed at a corner. Joao Pedro doubled the advantage after the interval, and N. Kutateladze added a third just before the hour mark. The fourth came from the same source, Joao Pedro, in the seventieth minute. By then, Trans Narva had long since given up any pretence of a fight.
Coaching decisions did little to shift the momentum. Three changes for Trans Narva on the hour mark could not stem the tide, and a double substitution for Levadia in the seventy-second minute simply refreshed the front line. Wendell and G. Slein each picked up bookings before the final whistle.
The statistics tell the same story. Levadia held 63 per cent possession, registered ten shots on target against four, and created more than twice as many attacks. Trans Narva managed only one corner and five attacks in comparison. The numbers are blunt enough.
Five points now separate the two sides at the top of the table. Levadia have played one game fewer, but the gap will not close unless the visitors find a way to stop conceding. Trans Narva's run of defeats continues, and at this stage the season has little meaning left for them.
