Polissya saw off Kudrovka 2-0 in the Cup round of 32 on Tuesday evening. The hosts, who had beaten Kudrovka 5-1 just five days earlier, made it two wins from two meetings between the sides this season. A clean sheet and a comfortable margin of victory sent the home crowd home satisfied.
Kudrovka started with three changes at half-time, bringing on O. Nazarenko, M. Vechurko and M. Ogarkov in a bid to shift the momentum. The visitors also picked up a yellow card through M. Rosales in the 51st minute, but could not find a way past a disciplined Polissya defence. By then the game had settled into a pattern the hosts were happy to maintain.
Polissya finally broke the deadlock through M. Gayduchyk in the 69th minute. Leandro Andrade added a second seven minutes later to end a barren spell and put the tie beyond doubt. Kudrovka made further substitutions, but the damage was done and the visitors could only watch from the sidelines.
The statistics told the story of the evening. Polissya registered 60 attacks to Kudrovka's 28, while possession sat at 60 per cent for the hosts against 40 per cent for the visitors. The hosts also won more throw-ins, 18 to 11, and generated more goal kicks, suggesting they controlled the tempo throughout.
The result means Polissya advances to the next round with both legs likely to go their way. Kudrovka, meanwhile, go home with a record of one win and two losses in their last five outings. The Cup run continues for the hosts, who now look to build on this performance.
